What is red glue? What is it for?
Red glue is a polyene compound, which belongs to SMT (surface mount technology) material, which is a one-component epoxy resin adhesive that cures quickly after being stored at room temperature and heated. Its main physical and chemical properties include viscosity, fluidity, temperature, wetting and thermosetting. The freezing point temperature of the red gum is 150°C, and when this temperature is reached, the red gum will turn directly from the paste into a solid.
Red glue has a wide range of applications in the electronics manufacturing industry, and its main roles include:
1. **Fixed Components**: Red glue can firmly fix the SMD components on the circuit board to prevent them from falling out in subsequent processes such as wave soldering. Especially on double-sided PCBs, red glue ensures that the small SMD components on the back do not fall into the pot.
2. **Protection and insulation**: The red glue covers the surface of the circuit board, which can form a protective layer to prevent the components from being eroded by moisture, dust and chemicals, and at the same time provide insulation effect, avoid short circuits between circuits, and ensure the safety of high-voltage circuits.
3. **Auxiliary fixing**: Red glue can also be used with solder paste as a reinforcing fixing to ensure the stability of components on the circuit board.
When using red glue, it is necessary to pay attention to its storage conditions and work specifications. Red gum usually needs to be stored at 2°C~10°C to prevent its properties from being affected by temperature changes. Before use, the red gum needs to be warmed up at room temperature for 4 hours to ensure its stable performance. In the process of operation, it is necessary to adjust the operation parameters, speed, time, air pressure and temperature according to the actual situation to minimize the occurrence of defects such as wire drawing and bubbles.
In addition, red glue also has some other advantages, such as stable adhesive strength for various chip components, high adhesive strength to avoid component deviation during high-speed mounting, etc. At the same time, the curing temperature and curing time of the red glue can be adjusted as needed to obtain the best bonding effect.
In general, red glue plays an important role in the electronics manufacturing industry and is one of the important materials to ensure that electronic components are stably and reliably fixed on circuit boards.
